When we arrived in Munich we had dinner with mummy’s school friend Nicole and her children. We went to a German restaurant and I had a chicken schnitzel. We also went on a boat ride where you could paddle around a lake. We saw the Glockenspiel from a very tall tower in Marienplatz. The Glockenspiel is inset into the tower with lots of moving characters. It works at 11 o’clock every day.
Aschau im Chiemgau
After Munich we went to a tiny town to see mummy’s other school friend Nina. Their holiday house is on a river surrounded by mountains and forest. Nina has four kids. We also met Nicole again there. The holiday house is really large. It has three stories. We went for a walk around the area and I saw lots of giant slugs on the trail. My favourite thing we did there was playing table tennis in their back yard. We also went to a palace and it was for King Ludwig II but he barely even went there. In the palace there were thousands and thousands of candles and they all had to be lit when Ludwig decided to pop over. Inside the palace there was a chandelier that if Ludwig sold it he could have bought another castle with it.
On the drive to Salzburg I sprained my foot at a park. After that we went to a cafe and had the biggest cake ever. We went to a cool castle and some awesome restaurants. We saw some good views and some lovely gardens. We also went on a chairlift. My favourite thing in Salzburg was the marionette show. We watched the Sound of Music. The movie is set around Salzburg.
Vienna is a large city with large buildings. It has lots of palaces and markets as well. We went at the time of the film festival so there were lots of posters. My favourite thing was the fancy restaurant we went to because it had the best chocolate cake and it was fancy.
There is a large man made lake behind our house. We went there a few times. The town itself is quite awesome. There is a beautiful castle in the old town. My favourite thing there was the rafting on Lucy’s birthday. The rapids were the funnest part about the rafting.
North of Munich
Outside our hotel window we saw a man fishing once. Behind him were the grounds of a massive palace. Outside the gardens we caught a tiny little frog. My favourite thing about north Munich was the location of the hotel because it was next to the palace garden.
